The When – it began with a three-week journey from L.A. to St. Louis in August of 2012. Recently, we did a two-weeker through Florida, spent 15 days in Michigan in August, and a week in autumn-induced Arkansas. Future dates TBD.
The Where – the U.S. of A. (and a few slices of Canada and Mexico).
The Why – I want to witness the endless beauty and diversity that both America and the open road have to offer.
The Real When – timing in alignment with heart prompting. In other words, when it’s time to go, it’s time to go.
The Real Where – this playground called Earth.
The Real Why – it’s a Spirit Call, exercise in freedom, and a must-D.O. (Divine Opportunity).
FAQ’s
How much time will you spend in each state?
There’ll be no rush and no time frame. So your guess is as good as mine.
However, there will be somewhat of a plan, but it will be very loose. I don’t want to limit the magic of possibility of what can happen on the open road. The idea is to show up and go with the flow.
You have to have some kind of a due date.
Nope. This journey isn’t about completing a goal whereby we step foot in every state, throw the ball a few times, and then head for the border. It’s about staying in the moment and being present to that moment from beginning to end.
Will you be crossing states off a list?
Yes and no.
A state is defined as “complete” when Gus and I have been to all of the sites and places in which we want to experience, most of which will be outside. In other words, we’ll enter and exit states whenever the timing feels right.
That said, efficiency is also of the essence. If it makes sense to visit part of a state now and do the rest on another leg of the trip, then I’ll cater to convenience.
So this won’t be one continual road trip?
No it won’t. I tried that at first and it didn’t mesh with my code. Therefore, I’ll be taking many a break along the way to write, rest, and most importantly, reflect.
Where will you stay?
Wherever the journey takes us. So far it’s been a combo of motels, friend’s homes, Couchsurfers, and the back of Betty. We’re open though to infinite possibilities: 5-star hotels, housesitting, and the kindness of strangers.
One of the things I enjoy most is meeting people and hearing stories along the way. Before I head out on the road, I typically post where I’m going and what I’ll be doing. If I happen to be in your area and you’d like to have a meal together or show me around, please get in touch.
How can I support you?
You can read my road journal, share it with others, bless our journey, host us, take photos of Gus and I on the road, all of that good stuff.
Can I sponsor you? Will you use my product on the road?
Yes and maybe.
Again, connect with me.
Which state are you saving for last?
For obvious reasons, Hawaii will most likely be the final piece to the puzzle. Plus, it’s a great place to celebrate. Gus and I look forward to ending on Kauai at some time in late 2015, but as of now, nothing is set in stone.
